PAY YOUR TAXES

"Nothing will ever befall me that I will receive w/gloom or a bad disposition. I will pay my taxes gladly. Now, all things which cause complaint or dread are like taxes on life - things from which, my dear Lucilius, you should never hope for exemption or seek escape." ~ Seneca, Moral Letters, 96.2, quoted in The Daily Stoic, page 117.

Thought I'd throw in my own little attempt at snark, this being tax day here in The States, w/a bit of snark from the wealthiest man in old Rome. There are a lot of tax schemes in this life: Income tax- just the financial scheme Waiting around- travel tax Rumors & Gossip- public persona tax Disagreements & Occasional Frustrations- relationship taxes Stress, etc- tariffs on success Theft- tax on abundance/having what others want/need

And the beat goes on... & on... & on... You can argue w/'em, & go to lengths to evade payin' 'em... or you can simply pay up & make do w/the residue. Wondering tho how the Establishment types & Magats are feeling about taxes etc this year.
